From ADWEEK.com

Interactive Taxi Starts to Roll
NEW YORK Hundreds of "cybercabs" are now trolling the streets of Boston, Chicago and San Francisco.

Interactive Taxi, a division of Targeted Media Partners, has launched a network of Internet portals residing in the backseat of taxicabs. Passengers in those three cities can now access localized news and special event listings, book restaurants and show reservations, and buy movie tickets from the back of their cabs. The portals also provide traffic information, mapping, and emergency news, as well as advertisements.technology."

To start, 600 cabs will be on the road by the end of February.

To enhance the new product, Interactive Taxi has partnered with PeerDirect Corporation, a division of Progress Software. PeerDirect's technology is purported to facilitate speedy Internet connection despite the lack of wires or satellite dishes.

The New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission is considering adopting Interactive Taxi sometime in 2005.
