Books, books, books

Recent additions to my book collection ( these past 2 months )

Band of Brothers by Stephen E. Ambrose
I love the TV series.. It’s about the men of Easy Company, a crack rifle company in the US Army. From the rigorous training in Georgia to the dangerous parachute landings on D-Day and their triumphant capture of Hitler’s ‘Eagle’s Nest’ in Berchtesgarden. I don’t know why I dig World War II stories..

A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson
It’s actually a science book, but according to reviews Bryson makes the study of science appear very friendly and every kind of person would find this book enjoyable and stimulating. It is his quest to understand everything that has happened from the Big Bang to the rise of civilization, revealing the world in a way most of us have never seen it before.

Brick Lane by Monica Ali
Shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize 2003

The Amateur Marriage by Anne Tyler
It’s a story about a couple in the heat of World War II. (mm.. another world war II theme)

The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera
It’s an old book, being republished for couple of times. It is a story of irreconcilable love and infidelities in which Milan Kundera addresses himself to the nature of twentieth-century ‘Being’, offering a wide range of brilliant and amusing philosophical speculations.

Olivia Joules and the Overactive Imagination by Helen Fielding
From the creator of Bridget Jones, comes a story about the fearless, dazzling , independent beauty-journalist turned master-spy named Olivia Joules

Lord of The Flies by William Golding
A classic that considered as one of the most disturbing and celebrated novels of modern times.

Angels and Demons by Dan Brown
After reading The Da Vinci Code, it’s hard not to be intrigued to put Dan Brown’s previous novel on my reading list. So, Robert Langdon.. we’ll meet again.

Happy Reading Lydiette !

Add some music to your day (Beta Version)

Ever wonder what life would be without music?

1. no lullaby song for desperate moms to lull their babies to sleep
2. There would be no MTV. Atau adanya.. MTV = Mature TV (alias tipi bokep.. hauehauhuaa)
3. There would be a lot of rejections out there (co : lamaran nikah ga diiringin musik romantis)

This time, the post will be all about music.
I’m actually making some kind of list here, (kayak yg suka di forward2 itu bow, cuman punya gue ‘soal’-nya lebih orisinil.. huhuhu)

- Lagu yang gue inget luar dalem :

yang gue inget setiap naik turunnya nada, setiap petikan gitar, setiap tarikan nafas, setiap cengkokan (emang dangdut?!),
Carnival by The Cardigans & Still a Friend of Mine by Incognito , and some of DEWA’s songs..

( I was a loyal fan back in junior highschool, when I had this silly huge crush for the cool guitarist Andra Ramadhan.. Hahaha.. Well at least, It wasn’t Dhani Ahmad.. No offense Dhan.. Sedikit cerita lucu.. sampe 1 sekola tau lho bow gue ngefans berat ama Andra Dewa.. Gw rekam semua pemunculan Dewa di TV, kumpulin penampakan mereka di media cetak.. and finally got the first chance to meet him in person pas konser Alanis taun 96.. huhuhu.. Norak )

- Lagu buat bunuh diri : Air dengan seantero album Virgin Suicides-nya

- My favorite classic of all time: Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini by Sergei Rachmaninoff. Lagu ini dijadiin soundtrack film (salah satu favorit gue) ‘Somewhere in Time’. Yang maen itu the late Christopher Reeve & Jane Seymour.. It’s a lovely movie, about a guy who travels through time to meet the girl of his dream..

- Most Wanted song! Alias lagu yg gw cari-cari mp3 atau bentuk audio lainnya.. Susah banget bow nyarinya Lina SantiagoEverywhere I go (bagi yg punya harap hubungi saya!)

- Songs that make me sick:
AFI theme song ‘Menuju puncak’ .. Why? No need to say the reason. NO offense for the author.. it’s the repetition that produced a huge resentment in me.. (.. and plus the program.. the exploitation, also the contestant, the MC, okay okay.. everything about it!!)

The Reason by hoobastank
Okay, I liked this song when it was first introduced as the band’s new single.
I began to despise this song when someone and maybe many other guys used this song as a justification for hurting their girlfriends/loved ones selfishly. Yeah yeah.. the reason my a**! (hahaha, it’s not just a personal outlook, some of my friends also said the same thing)

- I think..

All Saints was a fine girlband, and too bad they weren’t together anymore

Queen dan lagu-lagunya tak akan pernah lekang oleh waktu.. *anjiiiir

Seurieus and Naif harus dikasih kenang-kenangan berupa Piala Lydia dan Gelas Cantik bertuliskan ANTI-JOGER because they are so hilarious !!! Me likey deh yang kocak-kocak

Bossanova is the ultimate music for my idle moments.. Mmm.. di pinggir pantai.. semilir angin.. suara ombak… berdansa kecil…diiringi suara Caetano Veloso atau Bebel Gilberto… dalam pelukan Francesco Coco.. mmmmmmmmmmm.. Okay! Nothing to see here people! Carry on! :P

selera musik gue cukup variatif dan ga fanatik genre tertentu (kecuali bossanova.. hehe) .. tapi ya gak kayak tetangga sebelah yang mendewa2kan genre musiknya.. Hehehe..

Michael Learns to Rock has a serious problem with creativity.. Gilak.. tiap ngeluarin album, nadanya mirip2 men! They surely need to learn how to rock!

- I wonder…
What happen to Danny (New Kids on the block)?

What is in Michelle’s mind everytime Beyonce sings as the leading singer?

What is it like if Ebiet G. Ade sings in drum n bass music?

....

When you think life couldn’t get any worse…
It could.

For me, It happened twice..
